Citizens Advice Bury & Bolton is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Ascroft as our new Chair of Trustees, from January 2026.

Mark is a Chartered Accountant with 30+ years’ experience, including more than 20 years at executive level as a Finance Director in a variety of highly regulated sectors spanning financial services, education, health, care and the charity sector. Through his career, Mark has developed extensive expertise in leadership, financial strategy, governance, risk management, project management and organisational transformation.

Mark joined the Board of Trustees in 2024, and we are thrilled to have his continued engagement and support to help guide us in the coming years.

Jamie Walker – thank you

We also extend our gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Jamie Walker.

Jamie joined as a Trustee in September 2023, before being appointed as Chair later that year. Under his leadership, we have navigated significant challenges, while continuing to provide vital services to those who needed them most.

Gary Malcomson, Chief Executive Officer, commented on the transition:

“I want to personally thank Jamie for his support and leadership over the past two years. He has helped us sustain and grow our services during a period of rising demand, complexities and restructure. We are now excited to welcome Mark as our new Chair. Mark’s experience and understanding of strategy, governance, financial acumen and risk management will be a real asset, and I look forward to working closely with him to ensure we continue to deliver the highest quality advice and support to those who need our services.”
